Desert Riding
Carson City, being the capital of Nevada, must have some hidden treasures, some good hotels, some lovely little bistros hidden away on the back streets.  We will never know. As we rode through the sprawling metropolis I suddenly remembered our last trip here and as George pulled into the parking area of the same hotel we stayed at last time he pointed out the Mexican restaurant we would revisit this trip. None of this is particularly interesting except that it explains traveling in Nevada so well. This morning we stopped at the same gas station, where I lamented not buying my daughter -in-law a shot glass that said The Loneliest Highway, and of course now they don't sell them!  Then we ate at the same diner in Eureka, mostly because it is the only place to eat.  An hour later we arrived in the fine town of Ely where George was informed he was lucky we had reservations because every room in town was full.  We looked around for the going ons but other then a football game we could not come up with much.  This time we did not stay in the same place- Nevada Something a casino with gigantic furniture and tiny rooms. Once was plenty.

George found a friend!

George has spent hours trying to download the pictures so I can upload them onto the blog.  You would think this would be a simpler process.

Last night was my niece Jessica's and niece by heart Amy's 20th reunion. In fact I am writing this at 2:13 am and they could still be partying.  Wow time it does go by.

About the ride: Nevada certainly is eclectic. For miles the scenery is trailers, storage rentals, brothels,  and gas stations. Then you enter the open range of desert and the view is worth the ride. It is always nice to be reminded that there are large chunks of the earth still untouched.  One of the things we enjoy on the Loneliest Highway is a patch where people write things with rocks.  This goes on for miles....Darren loves Kerry.   Or   H + T .  Some folks import their own hand painted brightly colored rocks. Of course when you ride in the mountains there are always afternoon showers and we did get a little wet. Tonight there was quite a lightening show going on.

Tomorrow we shall be in Boulder, Utah.  Yum! Two days of great food, a beautiful room, and awesome views.

Jenson good night
